Good news for all travellers at food desert London Heathrow – top chef Heston Blumenthal is about to open his Perfectionists’ Café at newly redeveloped Terminal 2.
The concept and menu have been under development for 18 months and aim to meet the needs of travellers weary of junk, overpriced and tasteless airport food .
Heston explains:“Some guests will have very little time; others have lots, and we shall cater to both with food that is fun and familiar – and stimulating to the palate.”
The Perfectionists’ Café is inspired by the “In Search of Perfection” TV series based on Heston’s years of research. For example, the burgers will be made by grinding all the meat grains in the same direction to maximise the juiciness of the meat. Traditional fish and chips will be served with the ultimate crunchy batter and pizzas will be cooked in the first ever wood burning oven in an airport.
In a sentence Heston’s team seeks to pay homage to a customer who’s fed-up with junk, but wants exceptional food quickly.
We at Good Ski and sister magazine Good Holiday will be among the first to do a taste test and report back.
