Bergland’s magic position

Today visitors flock there because the area is still full of magic and retains its wonderful restorative powers, because the witches and fairy woods have been turned into a modern-day magical playground.
Just a few yards from the door of the Bergland you are whisked up the Hohe Salve mountain – not on a witches broomstick – but on a shiny modern, gondola which transports you in minutes from the valley floor to the centre of the mountain’s magical playground.
In winter, thousands of visitors fly all over five adjoining mountains on ski and in summer they zoom across the peaks on hang-gliders and parascending devices.

And the area springs to life with the hexen wasser theme park – hexen wasser meaning witch’s water.  Here kids young and old splash out among restoring Kneipp pools, water paths, water mazes, or just walking in the woods or meadows picking flowers and soaking up the idyllic yet lively scene  and perhaps having a picnic.
For the more adventurous there is more magic flying, not on a broomstick, but a hang glider, or if you are not that adventurous take the gondola to the very top of the Hohe Salve peak and enjoy the magical views of hundreds of miles in any direction of snow-capped peaks and distant valleys… all from a magical rotating mountain restaurant.

Hexenwasser- meaning ‘witches water’

Nature-lovers of all ages will love the Hexenwasser theme park because it is a great day out for all the family and at the end of a hot day on the hill you have another piece of magic to enjoy – the Ahornsee lake right at the bottom of the Bergland’s garden.  Here there is more water magic – a vast open air sparkling clear bathing pool of more than 10,000 square metres, where you can cool off and at the same time have a snack or drink, look up and delight in the beauty of the magical mountains.
Then it is back to the Bergland for even more magic cooked up by a man in a hat – chef’s, not witch’s – because the Bergland excels with the finest food from the valley and the region, with mouth-watering 4-course dinners washed down with some genuine wizard’s fire water –  locally distilled schnapps.
