Pure Freeride Design launches handmade Bamboo skis

New British company Pure Freeride Design (PFD) is launching a bespoke ski range for the freeride market.

The innovative design uses ethically sourced bamboo to produce an agile lightweight product, designed for the versatility of off-piste skiing.

Handcrafted in Britain to bespoke specifications, there are three models to chose from:
•The All Mountain Charger – designed for all types of terrain and conditions. A true all rounder.
•The Big Mountain Charger – for accomplished skiers looking for speed and agility in the big mountain environment.
•The Powder Charger – the unsinkable yet playful design created for the deepest of powder days.
With only 100 sets of PFD Skis produced a year, the exclusive range starts from £960 and is expected to be highly sought after by those who appreciate design, innovation and a personalised touch. Orders take four weeks to produce, can be delivered globally and are available at pfdskis, as well as a number of Snow & Rock stores during the winter season.

PFD founder and designer, Rupert Gammond, said: “I’ve spent the past four years designing and honing PFD Skis to perfection and I’m thrilled to launch them today. As a skier myself, I’ve been able to combine my love for the sport with my design knowledge, to create the ultimate skis.

“Using only the highest quality products and craftsmanship, we offer a unique, innovative handmade product unlike any other. We only produce 100 sets of skis a year to keep it exclusive.”

PFD Skis offer a range of sizes with a natural or caramel finish and the option of a base logo. There’s an additional personalisation service, which allows buyers to customise the top sheet prints, designs and colours – for a truly unique one-off set of skis.

Materials used include 70% responsibly sourced bamboo, carbon fibre, fibreglass, rubber, steel edges and a luxury gloss finish. The unique combination results in a strong yet streamlined product for longevity and durability.

PFD Skis was set up in 2012, working with collaborators in Sweden, Japan and France to inspire its sleek minimalist style.
