Europe and North America are enjoying a great snow season, and whilst Britain has been flooded the Highlands has been hit too – but with snow. Sunday was the busiest day for 10 years at Scotland’s Nevis Range Ski Resort.
Iain (Spike) Sykes, founder of NevisRange, said they had more snow than ever in the history of skiing at the mountain resort, which has now recorded snow fall for 59 consecutive days.
Some 1700 skiers and boarders enjoyed the slopes of Aonach Mor with incredible sunny blue skies and ‘wall-to-wall’ snow – 4.5 metres on the upper slopes, with some deep gully areas being more than 18metres deep.
There was so much snow cover that the resort staff had to dig out some of the lifts to allow them to operate and the resort had to stay open later to let everyone off the mountain.
