Austria’s famous Skiwelt region, with 270km of pistes, has just opened a brand new luxurious sporthotel at the foot of the slopes. John Hill files from snowy Hopfgarten.
And the Sporthotel Hohe Salve has everything fitness-friendly sportsmen want – from state of the art gym to massage suites and several pools both indoor and outdoor – and all kept warm despite the snows outside. And iit is right at the foot of the Skiwelt pistes.
I checked over the new property, which dominates the miles of gentle runs on sunny side of the Skiwelt. which is linked by piste to Westendorf and thereafter to the Brixental Valley and the Kitzbuhel Alps – another 180km of linked pistes.
Sporthotel Hohe Salve is right in the middle of this ski wonderland – and twin rooms are available from around Eu 170 a night, getting cheaper the longer you stay. A standard room has about 24 m² floor space, air conditioning, desk, small seating area, balcony, TV, WLAN, telephone, and entrance area, bathroom, shower and separate toilet.
Food is typical Tirolean cuisine. And accompanied by good local beers and excellent wines – expect to pay around Eu 35 for a grand meal with local wines.
The Sportresort Hohe Salve is recommended to fitness fanatics who will love the hotel’s excellent position – right at the foot of the slopes and near the gondola.
